22 Mar 2002  GS-DarrylDarden.jpg (966758 bytes) Sergeant Darryl Darden, United States Army, is a member of Task Force (TF) 2-153, currently stationed at South Camp in the Sinai, Egypt. TF 2-153 is the first pure National Guard unit ever to take over the Multinational Forces and Observers (MFO) mission in the Sinai desert.

Darden, age 20, was attending college at Harding University in Searcy where he was working toward a degree in Electronic Media Communications when the Searcy-based unit of the National Guard was called up for active duty in the Sinai. He was also playing tailback for Harding's football team, when he was called to be part of TF 2-153.

His MFO duties include being a lifeguard at Herbs beach and working at Herbs Gym, which are invaluable assets to TF 2-153rd's mission success by ensuring the mental and physical health of our soldiers. Darden's military experience has provided him with the physical training skills that have helped to improve his performance on the football field.

" It is an honor to be a part of such a great group of men," commented Darden. "Everyone has been really motivated throughout the whole mission." He has been in the Arkansas National Guard for four years. This is his first deployment with the Guard.
