Spotlight on the
Gunslingers: Sergeant (SGT) Randall Martin,
United States Army, is a member of Task Force (TF) 2-153, currently stationed at South
Camp in the Sinai, Egypt.
TF 2-153, is the first pure National Guard unit to ever take over the Multinational Forces
and Observers (MFO)
mission in the Sinai desert.
Martin, age 25, lives in Bald Knob and was working for ITT industries as
a stainless steel operator, when he was
called to be part ofTF 2-153. He is engaged to Kelly Sumerhill. The two plan to exchange
vows on the 17th of
August 2002.
Martin serves as a medic while in the MFO. His duties include applying
medical aid when needed, daily sick call, and overseeing
the field sanitation on his remote site, which are invaluable assets to TF 2-153rd's
mission success. His experience in the
military has given him the work ethic and attention to detail that is required in
excelling in the industrial environment.
"I knew we would be called out after September 11, but I thought we
would be in country:' said Martin. "This is a great opportunity for us to get to know
each other and depend on each other."
Martin has been in the Arkansas National Guard for five years. He has
previously deployed to Kuwait in 1999 with B Company 2-153rd Infantry out of Batesville.
