Capt. Jonathan Stubbs, of Searcy, has been named Active Guard and Reserve Soldier of the Year for the Arkansas Army National Guard.
He is a training officer with the 233rd Regiment at Camp Robinson, North Little Rock, where he manages the unit's plans and resources.
He is also the commanding officer of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 153rd Infantry at Walnut Ridge, a light infantry rifle company of the 39th
Infantry Brigade (Separate).

Stubbs entered the Arkansas Army National Guard in September 1998.

He graduated from Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee, in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in political science.

His military service schools include the Infantry Officer Basic Course (1996), Infantry Captains Career Course (2000), and the Combined Arms
Service and Staff School (2002).

Winning awards is something with which Stubbs is familiar. His military awards and decorations inclue the Meritorious Service Medal, five Army
Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal and the Arkansas Exceptional Service Ribbon.

He is married to the former Jane Berry of DeWitt. They have a daughter, Susannah Grace, age 5.
