Intervovernmental Council Meeting

The Intergovernmental Council along with the Personnel and Public Safety Committee met on March 10, 1998. The meeting was called to order by Judge Bob Parish at 7:00 p.m. in the Gerald Parish Courtroom of the White County Courthouse.

Those present were Judge Bob Parish, Personnel and Public Safety Committee members David Freppon, Bill Holt, and Harvey Goad, County Clerk Doug Faith, County Treasurer Waylon Heathscott, Mayors David Hamilton, Earl Strickland, John Parker Heathscott, Don Fuller, and Rodney Brady.

County Treasurer Waylon Heathscott and Justice David Freppon addressed the mayors concerning raising the charge of housing non-convicted prisoners from cities within the county from $5.00 to $10.00.

Judge Bob Parish discussed the following:

1. Handicap accessibility in voting precinct sites. Judge

Parish urged the mayors to view the voting precinct sites in their areas and inform him of any sites that needed to be made handicap accessible.

2. Pothole Patching Material. Judge Parish discussed a new

material that is available at the road department for patching potholes. Mayors that choose to use this material may receive it at the road department and pay at the Treasurer’s office.

3. County-wide Trash Pickup. Judge Parish discussed plans

to have a county-wide trash pickup in April of this year. Also he plans on having new trash ordinance for the county, cracking down on littering and illegal dumps.

Roger Gray, President of White Tiger Enterprises, Inc. in Searcy discussed the early warning sirens to be installed throughout the county.
