Twenty-year-old Harding University student Heather Relyea captured the title of Greater Miss Searcy on Saturday night at the Searcy High School Auditorium.

Relyea, a pre-medicine and political science major with a 3.90 grade point average, was awarded more than $3,000 toward her continued education.

Audra Floyd, the 14-year-old daughter of Ricky and Kim Floyd of Searcy won the Greater Miss Teen title.

Relyea will advance to compete in the Miss Arkansas Pageant, marking the first time since 1964 a preliminary winner from White County competed for the state title. She is a graduate of Ukarumpa International School in County Papua, New Guinea, South Pacific and the daughter of John and Marsha Relyea.

Candace Prejean, a sophomore at Arkansas State University and a Searcy native, was named the first runner-up in the Greater Miss Searcy competition. Beebe's Carolyn Redman, a student at ASU-Beebe, was the second runner-up.

First runner-up in the Miss Teen pageant was Phagen Altom of Bald Knob, the daughter of Darrell and Gina Altom. Second runner-up was Holly Garland, daughter of Jim and Marty Garland.

Relyea is a Trustee Scholar and is currently in the training council for the Rhodes, Fulbright, and Truman International scholarships.

The Miss Arkansas Pageant will be held June 20-26, 2004, in Hot Springs..
