About Our Town

McRae's slogan is “Small Town Big Heart”. We take pride in our community. We have a full time police department that has two full time officers and two part-time officers. Our Fire Department consists of fifteen volunteer members. Our Community is involved in a lot of ongoing projects with enthusiasm and a hometown environment for all ages. These include:

  • New Years Day FREE Blackeye Pea Dinner sponsored by: Citizens on Patrol (C.O.P.)
  • Easter Egg Hunt (0-12 yr olds) - generally Saturday before Easter, sponsored by: Community Fest Committee
  • 911 Appreciation Day of all Officers, Fire Rescue, Ambulance personnel - FREE Spaghetti Dinner, sponsored by: Community Fest Committee
  • Veterans Day Memorial - Nov 11th, Sponsored by: Veterans Committee
  • Community Fest: An annual event, generally the last Saturday in October, Sponsored by: Community Fest Committee
