CASA welcomes new executive director

Tuesday, September 21, 2004 10:52 PM CDT

White County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children) would like to welcome their new Executive Director, Miranda Raines. Although Raines began her career at CASA on Aug. 27, 2004, she has been serving the children of White County since March of 2003. Raines comes to CASA from the Department of Human Services where she served as a Family Service Worker. CASA is very excited to start their new journey with Raines to help serve the children of White County and surroundings areas. CASA is also searching for new volunteers to serve the children of White County and surrounding areas. Last year there were reports of more than 1,300 children in White County suffering from abuse and neglect. These children often spend years lost in the system in search of a safe, permanent home. They need someone to take the time to figure out what's best for them.

If you have a few extra hours a month, volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and give a child what every child deserves, a safe, permanent home. Be a powerful voice in their lives. CASA is taking applications for fall training. The six-session training starts Oct. 12.

For an application or more information please call 305-3428 or e-mail Jodi Graul, case coordinator, at jodi_g@wccasa.org.
