White County Fire Departments
The goals of firefighting are saving lives, saving property, and protecting the environment. As such, the skills required for safe operations are regularly practiced during training evaluations throughout a firefighter’s career.
White County is served by 30 fire departments all of which have verbal or written agreements to respond and aid each other on request.
Search and Rescue operations consist of searching for and removing trapped occupants of hazardous situations. Animals also are rescued, if resources and conditions permit.

A Fireman's Prayer...
When I am called to duty, God
Wherever Flames may rage,
Give me strength to save some life
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late,
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
And give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor
And protect their property. |
