With training on the so-called ( "Unity" election software just I completed, Leslie Miller has stepped into her job as Election Coordinator for White County. ( Her summation of the training she's just received: "I'm confident we can save the county a lot of money," mainly by providing certain technical services that, up to now, had been outsourced to ES&S, the state-mandated system developer.
The upcoming schools election will still be outsourced but, after that, "I'm sure we can handle the General Election ourselves."
This will be aided by the part-time retention of outgoing Coordinator John Nunnally as a consultant through the end of the year, a move for which funds " have been already allocated.
Her report on training was part n of a busy Tuesday morning for the White County Election Commission of Norm Southerland, outgoing member Charles Prier, and Chair Dianne Thomas.
Tentative approval was given e for the payment of $50,966.90 in bills from ES&.S, software and services supplier for the election processing system. This includes some $40,000 withheld by the Commission earlier in the year, pending timely arriving of equipment and training. The only hold-up on these payments is awaiting copies of invoices from the White County Treasurer's office to go with the statements from which the Commission was working.
The White County schools election is scheduled for September 19th.
